Emerging Floral Trends for 2025

Jan 153 min read

From abundant altars to bright and bold florals, these emerging floral trends exude beauty and are hugely inspirational. David Austin Wedding Roses are the perfect fit for couples looking to embrace these cutting-edge trends. Here’s what we expect to see in the world of floral design in 2025 and how our luxury roses can play a leading role.

Abundant Altars, a Key Floral Trend for 2025

In 2025, wedding altars are set to become more than just a backdrop — they will be a show-stopping focal point. Floral altars will move from subtle arrangements to abundant displays that create an immersive experience for guests. Think cascading florals, beautiful greenery and towering structures that evoke a garden-like atmosphere. David Austin Wedding Roses, with their full rosettes and rich textures, add a touch of old-world romance to this modern take on wedding altars. Roses like Juliet (Ausjameson) or Patience (Auspastor) with their ethereal charm and voluminous, sculptural petals are perfect for creating a sense of grandeur and opulence.

Floral Canopies for Sensory Delight

Floral canopies will be huge in 2025, with couples looking to bring the magic of the outdoors into their venue. These stunning installations, made up of suspended florals and foliage, create an ethereal, dream-like atmosphere. Trailing foliage adds a sense of movement, while bright-colored roses such as Constance (Austruss) and Hettie (AUSCP17117) create an eye-catching, colorful affair, perfect for creating an unforgettable visual impact as guests walk beneath a canopy of roses. Consider incorporating our most highly-perfumed roses, Purity (Ausoblige), Charity (Auswasher) and Beatrice (Auslevity) to create floral canopies that delight all the senses.

Bright & Bold Florals Continue

Continuing into 2025 are the much-loved vibrant hues and bold color combinations. Couples are leaning into color in unexpected ways, opting for bright, joyful flowers that exude confidence and a sense of celebration. David Austin Wedding Roses are available in an entire spectrum of shades. From the intense deep pinks of Capability (Ausapply) to the sunset tones of Edith (Auspluto), these roses are ideal for this trend. Pair these striking blooms with contrasting textures and foliage to create eye-catching bouquets and displays.

Floral Trends for 2025: Minimal & Intentional Table Centrepieces

Whilst the altar may be abundant, the tablescape is set to take a more minimal and intentional approach in 2025. Couples are favoring understated, thoughtful arrangements that allow each floral element to shine without overwhelming the space. David Austin Roses, with their classic beauty and impeccable quality, are perfect for creating elegant, simplified centrepieces. A few carefully placed stems in sleek, minimalist vases will evoke luxury without the need for excessive decoration. We love using luminous Leonora (Auswagsy) or magnificent Millicent (AUSCP17431) to draw attention to the purity and grace of the flowers themselves.

David Austin Roses for Every Trend

No matter the trend, David Austin Wedding Roses epitomize luxury and romance. With their lush, petal-rich blooms and unparalleled elegance, they bring a sense of timeless beauty to any wedding celebration. As floral trends evolve in 2025, our roses will continue to be a favorite for couples looking to blend modern trends with classic sophistication. Whether it’s an abundant altar or a minimalist centerpiece, the beauty of David Austin Roses ensures they will remain a coveted choice for years to come.

Tips for Using Lisianthus in Wedding Bouquets https://floristsreview.com/tips-for-using-lisianthus-in-wedding-bouquets/ Sat, 02 Nov 2024 00:38:53 +0000 https://floristsreview.com/?p=886024 Lisianthus’s beauty makes it a popular choice for wedding bouquets, but without proper planning, overordering can lead to unnecessary expenses.

Full Article Here. True Client Pro

How to Use Lisianthus in Wedding Bouquets

Lisianthus’s beauty makes it a popular choice for wedding bouquets, but without proper planning, overordering can lead to unnecessary expenses. Double-petal varieties make an excellent substitute for roses. Planning wedding floral recipes involves a delicate balance between creativity and efficiency. In this blog, we will explore how to use Lisianthus effectively in wedding floral arrangements to avoid overordering while maintaining the elegance and charm of the wedding bouquet.

lisianthus arrangement

1. Leveraging Lisianthus in Wedding Bouquets

Lisianthus is incredibly versatile, offering single and double-petal varieties that showcase their beauty when fully open. Each bunch contains ten stems, with multiple laterals on each stem and delicate sage green leaves that add texture to your arrangements. Due to its unique structure, Lisianthus can provide significant visual impact with relatively few stems. This makes it ideal for wedding bouquets where budget and aesthetics must be balanced.

To maximize Lisianthus in your bouquets, let the flowers fully open. This highlights their airy, dancing quality and ensures you get the most “bang for your buck.” By focusing on the flower’s natural beauty, you can create elegant, full-looking bouquets without the need for overordering.

2. Strategic Placement of Lisianthus in Wedding Floral Designs

Understanding where to use Lisianthus is key to maximizing its value. Place Lisianthus in areas where its beauty can be fully appreciated, such as bridal bouquets, boutonnières, and short centerpieces. These are focal points where the intricate details of Lisianthus can be seen and valued.

For larger arrangements, such as head tables or bud vases, where guests can closely admire the flowers, Lisianthus adds an elegant touch without overwhelming the design. Avoid using Lisianthus in large installations or areas where it may not be as visible. This can lead to unnecessary costs without adding significant visual value. By strategically placing Lisianthus, you can ensure that each stem contributes to the overall impact of your wedding floral designs.

3. Accurate Planning for Lisianthus Quantities in Wedding Bouquets

To avoid over ordering Lisianthus, accurate planning is essential. Start by understanding the current market prices, which have risen from $12 to $13 per bunch to $22 to $24 per bunch. This price increase means each Lisianthus stem costs between $2.30 and $2.40. Thus, it’s crucial to calculate your needs precisely. Here is what one stem of Lisianthus can look like.

When planning your bouquets, consider the number of Lisianthus stems needed based on the size and style of the wedding bouquet. Typically, you can get three flowers later from each stem of lisianthus. For example, a larger bouquet may need more Lisianthus. However, by pairing it with other flowers, you can reduce the overall quantity needed. Also, account for potential wastage by cleaning and preparing the stems carefully to minimize breakage. Removing leaves three-quarters of the way up helps prevent bacterial growth and allows the flowers to fully open, ensuring you get the most out of each stem.

4. Effective Use of Containers for Processing and Storing Lisianthus

Proper handling and storage of Lisianthus are crucial for keeping the flowers in top condition for your bouquets. After receiving Lisianthus, cut the elastic off the bunch and gently separate the stems. Clean each stem individually to reduce the risk of breakage and remove leaves to prevent bacterial growth.

For smaller quantities, use wide cylinder vases, 6 to 10 inches in width, to hold the Lisianthus while processing. For larger quantities, such as 10 or more bunches, medium-sized round buckets are more appropriate. These containers provide ample space for the stems, allowing them to stay hydrated and fresh while you prepare your wedding floral recipes. Proper storage maintains the quality of Lisianthus and helps you avoid unnecessary waste, further preventing overordering.

5. Communication and Collaboration with Clients on Lisianthus Usage

Working closely with your clients is essential to prevent overordering Lisianthus. Educate them about the versatility and beauty of Lisianthus, explaining how it can be used effectively in wedding bouquets. Discuss their vision in detail, particularly how they want Lisianthus to feature in their floral arrangements.

Clients may not always be aware of the current market prices or the cost implications of overordering. By providing guidance and suggesting alternative flowers, you can create a floral recipe that meets their aesthetic goals while staying within budget. Clear communication with your clients will help ensure you order the right amount of Lisianthus, avoiding excess costs and maximizing the value of each stem.

Conclusion

Using Lisianthus effectively in wedding floral recipes involves more than creating beautiful bouquets—it’s about balancing aesthetics with profitability. By leveraging Lisianthus fully, placing it strategically in wedding designs, planning quantities accurately, handling and storing it properly, and collaborating closely with clients, you can avoid overordering and ensure each arrangement is both stunning and cost-effective. This approach will not only enhance your floral designs but also contribute to a more successful and profitable floral business.

I want to say thank you to everyone at Mayesh for making such an amazing company possible for all of us florists out there! But a bit about my experience doing a destination wedding in Tuscany through Mayesh.

When an amazing wedding planner that we work with first asked me if it would be possible for us to do the flowers for a wedding in Italy, the first big question I asked myself was, “How do we obtain the flowers over there?”

The first person I reached out to was my incredible rep from Mayesh (Jenni Colgate) and she did not hesitate to start looking into the logistics for me. I know the region that we were asking to ship to is not one that Mayesh is easily able to deliver in, but she spent a ton of time figuring out if it was possible and then reassuring me that Mayesh could absolutely be our wholesale supplier for this international wedding.

Once I heard that Mayesh would be able to deliver the flowers in Tuscany, I immediately felt comfortable pursuing this wedding and became excited to create the florals!

The process was very comforting because I was able to work with the rep that I know & love, and yet all the behind-the-scenes wholesale logistics were taken care of by Mayesh, who worked with a supplier from Holland to ship directly to our Airbnb in Lucca. I simply emailed over my total flower count and variety wishlist, and Jenni worked with their contact and supplier in Europe to source a beautiful order with everything we needed.

She kept in touch with me throughout the entire process and was always there to reassure me and answer any questions I had. I know that everyone has to go the extra mile to ensure something like this will go smoothly with all the working parts and people involved, and I’m just so appreciative of Mayesh and my rep, who were a huge reason that our destination wedding was so beautiful.

When you are in another country and there are so many unknown factors, it is a huge deal to be able to work with a company that you already know and can trust to handle so many of the logistics. Thank you so much to all of you lovely people at Mayesh and my incredible rep, Jenni!

Create a Preserved Wedding Bouquet with SecondFlor: the full tutorial

Creating a wedding bouquet is a defining task for any florist, balancing artistic vision with the practical demands of a wedding day. Imagine offering your clients a bouquet that remains as stunning years after the ceremony as it was on the day itself. With preserved flowers from SecondFlor, this is not only possible but elegantly achievable. In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the process of crafting a breathtaking preserved wedding bouquet that showcases your expertise and creativity.

Step one: buy the material you need

At SecondFlor.us, we provide a comprehensive selection of high-quality preserved plants and flowers that are perfect for any event. Whether you’re planning an intimate wedding or a grand corporate gathering, our preserved florals offer lasting beauty and minimal maintenance. Here is all the material you’ll need to create this stunning wedding bouquet:

  1. Preserved peegee hydrangea in cloud pink
  2. Pearl white roses
  3. Pink blush roses or in café au lait color
  4. Dried white mini pampa
  5. Pink and white mountain fern
  6. Pink preserved pampa grass
  7. Pink dried protea repens
  8. Natural or white preserved gypsophila (baby’s breath)
  9. A ribbon to seal the bouquet
  10. Floral tape
  11. Floral wire
  12. Spruce scissors
preserved flowers by SecondFlor

Step two: stem preserved flower heads and plants

To create a stemmed preserved flower head, begin by inserting a longer floral wire into the base of the flower head. For additional support, insert two smaller wires in a cross shape alongside the main wire, securing them firmly into the base. Twirl the wires together to form a stable faux stem. Next, wrap floral tape tightly around the base of the flower head and down the length of the wires, ensuring a secure hold and a natural appearance. Adjust the shape of the stem as necessary to fit your floral arrangement. This technique provides a sturdy and realistic stem for preserved flowers, suitable for various decorative purposes.

wiring a rose

Please note that you can also buy roses on a stem or roses’ stems to glue the flower heads into.

Step three: create the preserved wedding bouquet

Now that you’ve stemmed each rose head and leaf, you can move on to creating the bouquet. This is a round bouquet, so you can arrange it as you would fresh flowers. For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, start by taking the central flower — the hydrangea — then add some other flowers around it, turning the bouquet in your hand to maintain a symmetrical shape. Incorporate greenery between the flowers to add texture and volume, making sure that the greenery doesn’t protrude too much to maintain the bouquet’s round shape. Continue adding flowers and greenery evenly until you achieve a harmonious, balanced whole.

Step four: secure the wedding bouquet

Securing a wedding bouquet is crucial to ensure it stays intact throughout the wedding day and ever after. Use floral tape to bind the stems tightly, starting just below the blooms and wrapping downwards. Cover the floral tape with ribbon, wrapping it from the top of the stems down and securing it with a pin or hot glue.

And voilà, your bouquet is ready to sell. Don’t forget to create several bouquets at the same time, so you’ll have a display full of beautiful, everlasting products. For preserved flowers and plants, there’s only one trusted address in the USA: SecondFlor.us.

Stunning Wedding Venues: Floral Ideas Beyond Centerpieces

Laura July 18, 2024 CustomersProductsSolutions

Today’s couples are swooning over venue arrangements, the floral installations that transform their wedding space into a breathtaking scene. And it’s not just a dream; it’s reality. Venue flowers saw a 20% increase in sales last year —outpacing any other wedding budget category!

Why so popular? Couples are yearning for immersive floral experiences that go beyond the table. They want their entire venue to be infused with the beauty and romance of nature.

With a vast array of developing trends, the role of floral design in event planning will only grow in significance. This brief overview of event décor trends is just the beginning.

Intentional Installations

Pack a punch with statement installations that wow guests throughout the venue. Imagine dramatic arrangements adorning the bar and welcome area, creating a lasting impression from the first moment they arrive. This intentional approach prioritizes impact over the obligation of a centerpiece on every table.

Creative structures

Work with what you’ve got! Weddings and events have strayed from traditional ballrooms in the last decade. Therefore, event designers must show unique touches that prove even the most beautiful of spaces can benefit from floral décor. Look at the existing structures – mantel, bannisters, walls, and light fixtures. Dressing those up is a crucial part of creating an event that is visually stunning, meaningful, and memorable.

Asymmetry

Forget the expected! Symmetry is taking a backseat to a bolder, more rebellious approach in floral design. Unequal arrangements with a captivating mix of heights, textures, and placements are shaking things up. This isn’t just about aesthetics; asymmetry can spark a sense of intrigue and excitement. Imagine dramatic blooms cascading to the floor or playfully suspended overhead. These unexpected elements create a dynamic display that keeps the eye engaged and ignites a sense of wonder, making your event truly unforgettable.

Long rectangular tables over round ones

Rectangular tables can contribute to a contemporary, minimalist feel, which aligns with many couples’ preferences for a clean and sophisticated look. With a focus on the guests’ experience, couples are realizing rectangular tables encourage conversation because guests can connect with more people than at a round table (where they might only interact with those directly across or beside them). For designers, long tables provide a larger canvas for creative centerpieces and floral arrangements. Think about dramatic linear installations or multi-level designs.

Breaking out of the photobooth

Photobooths are landing on the “don’t” list of many bridal publications, but that does not mean creating photo moments is a thing of the past. According to The Knot, 61% of weddings have a photo moment for their guests! Floral designers and event planners must come to the table with unique ideas for photo backdrops, and silk flowers can be the answer for these large-scale pieces. Lighter in weight, with the ability to design ahead of time, see a few examples of photo backdrops in our gallery!

Climbing the walls

Forget limitations! When lush greenery seems to defy gravity, cascading down walls or bursting out from unexpected corners, you add a touch of organic wonder to the event. Perfectly suited to transform your one-day event, artificial greenery creates the captivating illusion of plants reclaiming their space, their natural beauty thriving even in confined areas. It’s a statement piece with whispers of resilience and untamed growth.

How to Get Ready For Wedding Season: 7 Vital Tips For Your Floral Business

bride and groom

As the wedding season approaches, it’s a crucial time for florists. The flowers you choose and arrange play a big part in making weddings beautiful and memorable. Here are some tips to help you prepare your floral business and make this season a blooming success!

1. Refresh Your Social Media Presence
Social media is like your online flower shop window, so it’s important to make it look as attractive as possible. Take some time to update your Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and any other profiles with photos of your beautiful wedding arrangements. Show off your favorite projects, and make sure to remove old pictures that don’t represent your best work.

2. Gather and Display Client Testimonials
Happy clients are your best advertisers. Reach out to couples who loved your wedding flowers and ask them to write a short review. Then, put these reviews on your social media and website. Also, ask for Google reviews, as people will definitely read these when looking for a florist. When potential new customers see all the glowing testimonials, they’ll feel more confident choosing you for their big day.

3. Enhance Your Website
Your website is often the first place a potential new client will visit. Make sure it looks modern and works well on mobile devices, as most people will be scrolling on their phones when reviewing your website. A good website makes it easy for clients to understand your services and contact you, so update it with your best flower photos and helpful tips for choosing wedding flowers.

4. Update Your Portfolio with Professional Images
Pictures are the most important way to show off what you can do with creative floral designs. Consider hiring a professional photographer to take photos of your recent work, then choose pictures that display a variety of styles and themes. This will show potential clients that you can create the perfect look for any wedding.

5. Evaluate and Expand Your Service Offerings
Look at the flower services you offer. Are they still what couples want? Maybe you can add new services like custom tablescapes or full wedding floral installations. Keeping up with what’s trending, like using eco-friendly flowers, can also attract more customers. See our article on top wedding trends for more ideas.

6. Revise Your Pricing Structures
Make sure your prices are fair and clear. Consider creating different packages for small, medium, and large weddings. Be transparent about what goes into the pricing and what services are included in each package. Being upfront about costs helps avoid confusion and makes couples feel more at ease.

7. Refine Your Marketing Strategies
Think about who you really want to work with. Are they couples who care a lot about the environment? Or maybe those who want very fancy weddings? Use your marketing, particularly ads and social media, to talk to these specific people. Attending wedding fairs and working with wedding venues can also help you find new customers.

Getting ready for wedding season means being prepared and creative. This is your time to show off your skills and help make weddings memorable with your floral designs.

By following these tips, you can ensure your floral business is set to bloom this wedding season, helping make every couple’s special day even more magical with your floral creations!

A Guide to Glass Sleeves: Five Wedding & Event Pros Share Their Expertise

Integrating candles into a wedding ceremony or reception is a tried-and-true method of adding elegance and warmth to your client’s big day. In addition to candlestick holdersglass sleeves are often a mandatory event decor addition due to open flame policies at event venues. We’re shining a spotlight on wedding glass decor, specifically glass sleeves, with the help of 5 of the industry’s leading wedding and event floral pros who specialize in creating editorial-worthy weddings.

Wedding reception tables can be crowded with flowers, candles, glass sleeves and more. How do you account for a beautiful tablescape allowing guests to dine and mingle comfortably?

LAUREN ANDERSON & RACHEL BRIDGWOOD, Co-Founders of Sweet Root Village, say…

“This often shifts to adjust to a client’s goal, vision, preference, and event logistics. A very minimal design is needed if the food service will be served family style. Some clients have a goal of ‘more is more’ and want an extremely impactful design that leaves no room for over-the-table conversation. And of course, everything in between. A great event planner makes a big difference in guiding the client with feedback to improve guest comfortability outside of tabletop event decor. We discuss table styles and sizes while getting a feel for the client’s goals before plotting the correct number of styled elements (vesselscandle holders of varied heights, and other tabletop event decor). We then confirm if we’ve nailed the vision during a sample table showing with the client. That gives us one final chance to shift elements to ensure the tablescape shines.”

Sweet-Root-Village tablescape

KYLE DRAKE, Co-Owner of Designs by Dillon says…

“Table size and shape play a huge factor when designing a beautiful tablescape. When I design for a rectangular table I always suggest an elongated floral arrangement and candles that line down table center. This helps ensure the flowers are not intruding over a guest’s place setting and candles aren’t in the way of glassware placement. On the other hand, if I am designing for a round table, I always suggest a floral arrangement with a rounded look to complement the table shape plus clustered candles tucked near the arrangement. I also account for guests who wish to speak with the person directly across the table. Taper candles with glass sleeves are usually the tallest candles used on a tablescape. Be careful of creating a glass sleeve ‘wall’ between guests. I suggest 4-6 taper candles with glass sleeves on an 8-foot rectangle table and 3 on a round table.”

wedding reception

STEPHANIE BUONAIUTO, Owner & Lead Designer of Stephanie B Floral Design, says…

“The table design sets the mood for an event type. It’s important to consider different textures, heights and shapes. Tablescapes encompass a range of elements, and part of my job is to find a balance of aesthetic and functionality. If I’m unsure of how a specific design will work, I create a mockup of the centerpiece. I’m a very visual person so this helps me manipulate the design before the event day. This is also an opportunity for me to meet with clients and make necessary adjustments.”

Stephanie-B-Floral table decor

STACEY HELLMAN, Owner & Lead Designer of Roots Flowers & Events, says….

“We consider the height of both candles and florals when we design tables, as well as the footprint size. If we know the couple is utilizing beautiful table rentals, we choose thinner candlesticks and glass sleeves allowing more room while balancing a beautiful tablescape with wedding glass decor.”

reception table decor

ZOE GALLINA, Chief Creative Officer, Botanica Design Studiosays…

“It’s all about communication. We’ve noticed a shift in the recent years where clients are putting a large emphasis and effort on the tabletop rentals. It’s a trend that we absolutely love and feel passionate about ourselves as a company, as it’s the little details that can finish a design. And when one of us shines, we all do. But it’s also something that can greatly impact what the florist provides and the space available on the table. It’s important to have a conversation with the planner or the Catering Manager to ensure you’re all on the same page with everything going on the table. Depending on what is being provided, sizing up on the table might be a necessity.”

What are the ideal glass sleeve features?

LAUREN & RACHEL: “Ideal sleeve heights need to cover the flame of the taper candle, including the height of the required holder. Our go-to size is often between 18″ and 24″ to cover a standard 12″ or 15” taper candle depending on the candleholder’s height. We tend to push for a wider sleeve opening to avoid smoking glass, overheating and fast candle burning – and easier cleanup! Our clients love the textured glass option in the Optic Glass Sleeve that Accent Decor created. We enjoy mixing the texture within plain glass options for a dynamic design.”

KYLE: “When it comes to glass sleeves, size matters. You want to make sure the top of the taper candle does not go above the top of the glass sleeve. You need to account for the height of the candle holder and taper candle. The diameter of the glass sleeve also needs to fit the candle holder. A pro-tip when working with glass sleeves is to remember that glass can smudge and show fingerprints. My team always wears gloves when handling sleeves and we have glass cleaner on-hand. We work exclusively with weddings and events, where it’s all about the details. Nothing is worse than receiving wedding photos back and spotting smudges on the beautiful glass sleeves.”

long table for reception

STEPHANIE: “When using wedding glass decor, I consider the shape and height of the candle holder. The sleeve needs to be wide enough to fit around the holder and tall enough to cover the flame.”

STACEY: “We always consider whether we’re setting up indoors or outdoors when choosing glass sleeve sizes. A typical set up would include 4” diameter sleeves as they’re the sturdiest. We deal with so much wind in Las Vegas. Choosing the safer option grants peace of mind. If we’re indoors, we love being able to use a slim glass sleeve for a modern look.”

table decor with candles

ZOE: “We feel the best size is 18” high. It gives enough table visual impact without overpowering the other design elements featured. Sometimes we do like to mix and match heights, especially if the candle holders used are only available in one size. The diameter of the sleeve is important to consider to ensure they fit over the candle holders being used, but also something to consider if your event is outside. The wider diameters offer a little more stability against wind vs. narrower options. The quality of the glass and its thickness is so important to ensure their longevity without damage. We love the Accent Decor sleeves for this reason. We rarely, if ever, have issues with them chipping or getting damaged. Sleeves take a lot of wear and tear since they require a lot of cleaning after each event. Pro-tip: To avoid fingerprints during set up, our team wears white gloves when placing them on the table.”

table decor

Is there a favorite way you’ve integrated glass sleeves into a wedding?

LAUREN & RACHEL: “Colorful wax candles have made a huge comeback, and we thoroughly enjoy the additional splash of color they provide. We’re now seeing textured, marbled, and carved candles resurfacing. We love that clients are embracing these more unique elements to set their wedding design apart. It provides new challenges for us, finding the best fit candleholders and sleeves to maximize their look, but we are here for it! One of our recent favorites was a sleek black taper candle in a black taper holder enclosed in glass. It was very dramatic in an industrial space against heaps of soft, delicate Spring blooms.”

KYLE: “Taper candles with glass sleeves always add elegance in a wedding or event. While there aren’t many ways to change the usage of a glass sleeve, I love changing the size or style I use. The Optic Glass Sleeves are a new favorite of mine. They emit a unique glow that helps set the intimacy of a table setting. I also enjoy using a mixture of colors and tones of taper candles to add a pop of color.”

STEPHANIE: “Whether it’s glass votives or vases, it looks more cohesive and intentional using the same glass material for other elements in a design.”

STACEY: “We’ve been lucky to have couples who aren’t afraid of color, especially when it comes to their candles. Neutral colors are always classic, but colored candles really add that extra pop of color to complement centerpieces. They look especially great on long tables in photographs, where a white candle easily blends in.”

ZOE: “We always love when a client is willing to add color into any design. But since the start of the popularity of taper candles, we’re loving how more and more wholesale companies are offering more unique candlestick designs and also incorporating color for the candle holders themselves. There are several we have our eyes on for an upcoming event from Accent Decor. The more unique shapes and colors have the ability to add really fun and unique details to a table top.”

While functional and beautiful, glass sleeves aren’t the most design-forward product. How would you utilize glass sleeves in various aesthetics?

LAUREN & RACHEL on a colorful, youthful aesthetic: Glass sleeves are required by most venues so our goal is to make the candle more exciting so the sleeve fades away. This usually means colorful and uniquely shaped holders and fun wax candles. Or we pull in many dynamic candle styles and heights with varying floral elements to keep eyes moving and flowing within the design.”

KYLE on a bohemian aesthetic: “When designing a wedding with a bohemian aesthetic I always love using antique gold candlestick holders with glass sleeves and a muted-toned taper candle. I’ve also embraced the eclectic nature of bohemian style by using an assortment of mismatched glass sleeves in varying sizes and textures.”

STEPHANIE on glamourous aesthetic: “It’s possible to have a glamorous wedding while using glass sleeves. I would consider the style of candlestick holders you’re using. For this specific aesthetic I would choose something sleek and clear to complement the sleeve. I’d also consider pillar or floating candles to elevate the design and add uniformity.”

STACEY on a minimally chic aesthetic: “I really love the Adeline Candleholder for its modern vibe. The glass sleeve fits seamlessly around the candlestick holders, elevating the design while giving a minimally chic aesthetic.”

ZOE on a romantic aesthetic: “Candles in general certainly aren’t design forward and while it’s a common myth that using candles are an ‘inexpensive alternative to flowers.’ They aren’t. But candles can completely transform a space. We often feel a room isn’t completely set until the candles are lit. The ambiance that they add is unparalleled. We recently had a Bride come to us wanting a simple design at a venue with a thoughtful design aesthetic that would allow it. The entire wedding design other than an entry piece and the personal flowers were candles. We used a combination of varying heights and sizes of taper, pillar and votive candles on the tables and while it was a simple design, it created this beautiful look reflective of a sophisticated dinner party.  While candles are not an alternative to flowers, we should never underestimate their impact.”

About the New Roses

BESSIE (AUSPERIDOT)

Bessie garden roses

Bessie’s color transitions beautifully, starting as an ivory bud opening quickly into a classic deep cup to reveal shades of apricot at her center. As her petals relax, Bessie’s shape becomes more rosette-like, her color paling to buttery cream, developing hints of caramel while always maintaining a halo of ivory outer petals. Her light to medium fragrance is a combination of tea with undertones of myrrh.

HETTIE (AUSCP17117)

Hettie deep pink rose

Hettie is super sassy, full of charisma and confidence with her striking rich pink rosette blooms. Hettie pops open to say hello extremely quickly, creating a star rosette at her centre, surrounded by a ring of neat, layered outer petals in a lighter pink fuchsia tone. Whilst fragrance is missing from Hettie’s character, she celebrates her many other assets of color, form and long vase life.

MILLICENT (AUSCP17431)

Millicent pink rose
Photographer and stylist @Jannelford Roses: @davidaustinweddingroses

Millicent is a cornucopia of wonderful things. A vintage beauty of warm, mid pinks developing hints of lilac and mauve. Her blousy blooms are filled with textured, swirling petals that unfurl forming a wonderful rosette. Millicent’s medium scent of citrus and old rose provides her final, flourish and her adorable character suggests a vintage, reserved glamour of a bygone era.

The 6 Best Color Palettes for a September Wedding

The experts share a range of suitable color combinations for a late summer or early fall affair.

September is one of the most sought-after months to say “I do,” and it’s easy to see why: In most regions, the weather is balmy and bright, and the local flora and fauna is still teeming with life. Plus, there’s a newfound excitement in the air that comes with the anticipation of a start of a new season. Because September marks the transition from summer to fall, this time of the year gives you a lot of leeway in terms of your aesthetic, namely your color palette. Since the shades you use to paint your special day help guide and inform the rest of your wedding’s design concept, choosing hues that coordinate with the season will create a more cohesive, visually striking experience.

Depending on your venue and wedding date, your affair could channel all of the bright colors of summer or mirror the rich jewel tones of fall. For instance, Colorado-based wedding planner Lindsey Morgan of Bello & Blue Events explains that the leaves in Aspen transform from green to gold during the third week of the month, which lends inspiration to a foliage-inspired color scheme for a late September wedding, but lighter, warmer hues might better complement a vow exchange set earlier in the month. Meanwhile, nuptials in South Carolina may look green and prolific all month long, so vibrant colors will most likely trump dark and deep tones for an event in September.

MEET THE EXPERTS

  • Lindsey Morgan is a Colorado and destination wedding planner with 20 years of experience and the owner and creative director of Bello & Blue Events, which she launched a decade ago.
  • Yodit Gebreyes Endale is the owner and principal planner at Favored by Yodit Events & Design, which serves clients around the world. She has 12 years of experience in the wedding industry.
  • Adriana Gorman is the owner and lead event designer of Adriana Marie Events based in Annapolis, Maryland. She has been planning weddings since 2012.

The options are truly endless for a September wedding, so to help you make the decision process more seamless, we tapped a handful of wedding planners for some of their favorite color combinations that befit the month. Read on for the best color palettes for a September wedding, according to the experts.

Shades of Purple

Purple is a versatile hue that works for any day in September. Lighter shades of purple, such as lavender, lilac, and violet, will create the perfect backdrop for a late summer wedding in early September, whereas deeper tones of plum, eggplant, and wine will better commemorate the changing seasons in late September. Although a monochromatic design is a stunning choice, wedding planner Yodit Gebreyes Endale of Favored by Yodit Events & Design recommends pairing the color with harmonious hues to channel a certain aesthetic. “They can be combined with neutrals, like ivory, beige, or gold, to add a touch of elegance or simply paired with green to emphasize a natural and organic ambiance, while bringing the royal and regal feel,” she says.

If you’re looking for décor ideas, your stationery suite is the best place to start. Share information about your upcoming function on purple cardstock, or include a splash of the color through the use of illustrations on a white background. You can also work the shade into your attire, whether it’s a white wedding dress appliquéd with purple flowers or a pair of purple platform wedges to dress up a classic ensemble. Purple gowns for your bridesmaids are also a beautiful and complementary look. Then, douse your ceremony and reception in the shade using seasonal purple flowers, such as dahlias, roses, and hydrangeas. Complete your setup with gold accents for a glamorous wedding or rattan pieces for a bohemian soirée.

Burgundy and Orange

The leaves start to change colors in the Northwest and Midwest in mid-September or near the end of the month. So, if you’re throwing a late September wedding in one of these regions, an autumnal color palette with deep tones will augment the season and setting. In particular, Endale loves combining burgundy and orange to mirror the surrounding foliage and produce a cozy, welcoming vibe. Not to mention, these hues have symbolic meanings that are meant for a wedding. “Burgundy, in particular, represents deep love and passion, making it a perfect choice for a wedding celebration,” Endale explains. “Orange is often associated with warmth, friendship, and enthusiasm, all of which are sentiments we wish to highlight during this momentous occasion.”

Since these bold tones are found in the natural landscape surrounding your vow exchange, using burgundy and orange flowers and leaves is a seamless way to integrate these colors into your design. While you walk down the aisle, carry a bouquet of foliage, anemones, roses, and cosmos in orange and burgundy before reciting your promises in front of an arch composed of the same blossoms. You can also implement seasonal arrangements of the same colored blooms to accent the seating chart, bar, dinner tables, and cake display. You can either use these hues in tandem, supplement the two tones with gold, or balance out the color-focused look with white.

Blue, Sage, and White

For the last hurrah of summer, look to airy tones of blue, sage, and white as the basis of your color scheme instead of heavier autumnal hues. While this trifecta is timeless and seasonless, planner Adriana Gorman of Adriana Marie Events recommends bringing these hues to your early September wedding taking place on or around Labor Day. By relying on this trio of colors, you’ll produce a warm and inviting soirée. “The colors are the base of the story for your wedding weekend… A blue and sage palette creates a calm nature,” the planner notes. Since these refreshing colors are reminiscent of a body of water, we love this look for beachside or lakefront fêtes.

To bring these hues to your event, deck out your site with greenery embedded with blue and white flowers. In addition to your typical arrangements, like aisle installations and reception centerpieces, you can also go bold with flower chandeliers. Gorman also suggests working sage into your bridesmaids’ attire. Then, implement blue and white prints, whether it’s the linens, the chargers, the bar design, or all of the above. To complement the colors and the venue, Gorman suggests incorporating texture, like rattan. Perhaps you suspend rattan lanterns above your tablescapes, or maybe you fill rattan baskets with blooms to place at the entrance of your tented reception.

Merlot, Navy, Dusky Rose, Ivory, and Mustard Yellow

There’s no limit on the number of colors you can decorate your wedding with. One of Gorman’s favorites for a celebration that takes place near the end of the month is merlot, navy, rose, ivory, and mustard. “This feels like a great balance for a later September wedding as a nod to the fall, but it has areas of muted lightness as well,” she shares. While merlot and mustard mimic the colorful treetops that epitomize autumn, navy and rose are unexpected accompaniments that will give your event an edge. If you’re getting married at a vineyard, farm, or barn with a rustic aesthetic, this color scheme is particularly fitting.

Flowers are an integral component of any wedding, so Gorman advises using buds in these hues to form the foundation of your design. “Dusky rose, ivory, and mustard yellow with pops of merlot in the florals throughout will create a rich and inviting space,” she says. You can also incorporate fall leaves, golden fern, and dried grasses for added texture. To bring navy to the mix, the planner suggests selecting velvet furniture in the dark blue shade for your lounge area or choosing a statement navy design for your bar.

Amber, Emerald, Cognac, Eggshell, and Black

As another alternate color scheme for a late September wedding, consider amber, emerald, cognac, eggshell, and black. Black and white is a classic pairing that can be used at any time of the year, but by adding amber, cognac, and emerald, you’ll give your big day a unique autumnal twist. Using amber and cognac will duplicate the colors of leaves found outside of your venue, while emerald is a jewel tone that couples often turn to in the fall. Incorporating black details will give your décor a moody, dramatic flair.

For some ideas, set the expectation for your event with black and white invitations featuring your custom crest or a sketch of your venue in amber, emerald, and cognac tones. Then, embellish your site with arrangements of greenery, textured grasses, roses, and delphinium using every hue from your palette. You can place these arrangements at the entrance of your aisle, at the base of your escort card display, and at the foot of your sweetheart table. Another fun way to bring amber to your big day is by ditching the traditional flower petal exit-toss or send-off in favor of golden leaves, according to Morgan. You can also incorporate the bright yellow hue through light fixtures. “Amber is the perfect flattering lighting tone, and it mimics candlelight,” she says.

Berry, Butterscotch, Tangerine, Ivory, and Black

If you love the timeless look of a black and white color combination, but you also want to add a pop, bring berry, butterscotch, and tangerine to your palette. These hues work well for the beginning, middle, or end of the month and in any locale. The vibrant shades of berry, butterscotch, and tangerine are reminiscent of summer, but including dark details will introduce the upcoming fall season. “With September being the bridge from summer to fall, we often pair softer tones with more of a bold hue, like black, navy, or a rich wine tone, to balance the palette,” Morgan explains.

Wondering how to make this unexpected array of colors work for your September affair? Focus on vivacious floral arrangements that showcase berry, butterscotch, tangerine, and ivory. Then, implement darker details for juxtaposition. For instance, line white tables with clusters of colorful flowers, and choose black chargers, black napkins, and black flatware with a touch of gold to welcome an interesting contrast.

6 TOP WEDDING BOUQUET TRENDS FOR 2023

 RIO ROSES WEDDINGS TRENDS

We know that wedding bouquet trends change every year — and 2023 is no exception. While 2022 was all about bold and bright florals, with a major nod to baby’s breath, 2023 is far more understated and minimalist.

What does that mean, exactly? Couples are approaching their bouquets as more of an accessory to the overall look rather than a scene-stealer. However, being minimalist doesn’t mean you can’t be creative! Here are a few of the most sought-after bridal bouquet trends this year.

1. Smaller Bouquets

Bridal bouquets are going to be smaller, both for brides and bridesmaids. These small bouquets complement the overall look while letting everyone see the beautiful dresses more clearly. One way to add a wow factor to a smaller bouquet is to include one large focal flower, like a peony, garden rose, or anemone.

2. Less Greenery

With the trend of more boho-inspired weddings with a natural feel, past years have seen a lot of greenery in bouquets, including many all-greenery designs. This year, however, couples are opting for bouquets with little to no greenery added. Instead, designers are using colored foliage or smaller flowers as fillers and accents.

3. One Flower Choice

As modern, minimalist designs are so popular in 2023, many bridal parties are streamlining their bouquets by using a single flower throughout. These mono-bloom bouquets are often also monotone in color, contributing to the pared-down, modern look. Plus, it’s a great way to show off a particularly beautiful or unusual flower.

4. Cascades and Drips

Cascading bouquets have always been popular, but now couples are requesting a more modern take by adding a drip. This creates an asymmetrical, sculptural look with plenty of movement and texture. Amaranthus is a popular choice for drips, as well as tropical flowers like anthuriums.

5. Muted Blue Shades

Dusty blue is back this year, more as an accent color than an overall hue. It’s a particularly popular choice to enhance a neutral color palette, to give it just a hint of color but not overwhelm the look. Plus, it’s a perfect way to add a touch of “something blue” to a bridal bouquet.

6. Ribbon Wraps

Bouquets wrapped with ribbons are another growing trend this year. The ribbon is not only beautiful, but it can help tie in the bouquet’s flowers to the overall wedding palette. Plus, flowing ribbons add a touch of elegance — and plenty of romance — to the overall look.

As with any trend, it’s important to remember that these are just suggestions. Ultimately, the bouquet your couple chooses should reflect their taste and style, as well as the overall theme of the wedding. Whether the bride chooses a minimalist bouquet or a more elaborate design, the most important thing is that she feels confident and beautiful holding it on her special day.

So, take inspiration from these trends, but don’t be afraid to put your unique spin on things to give the bride exactly what she wants. With some creativity and the right flowers, you’re sure to design stunning bouquets that perfectly complement any wedding day look.
